the weekends that were...

January 9-10. Since I stayed at my parent’s during the weekdays, sa in-laws ko naman ako ng weekends. Sinundo ako ni Irvin ng Saturday night sa amin after ng basketball game nya. Started with Harry Potter!

January 16-17. Dahil tapos na ako sa Harry Potter 1 and 2, siyempre ‘yan ang Now Showing sa kwarto namin. First time ko din napanood ang Up, ang cute! Favorite ko si Alpha Dog :P Since we did not have the chance to go on a date last January 14 (our 10th anniversary, yiheee!) and since bawal din naman sa akin ang long walks, we settled to drop by Angels Hills Chapel and have dinner at Bag of Beans Tagaytay. Nakahiga ako the whole travel, hehe, spoiled! Anyway, disappointing ang experience namin sa Bag of Beans. First, ‘yung first 2 orders ni Irvin ay hindi available. Second, ang tagal bago nai-serve! Third, ang tagal bago naibigay ung bill! Kainis, grrr! Okey lang sana ‘yung food, although for me e medyo pricey dahil hindi naman extraordinary ‘yung sarap.

January 23-24. It’s my MIL’s birthday! Dinner at Anak ng Seaside Tagaytay (and yep, Tagaytay again). Then dessert at Café Breton, yum yum yum! Sunday is a rest day kasi papasok na ako ng Monday.

January 30-31. Sayang, I was not able to attend our team’s Family Day :( I just stayed at home at rested. It was Nanay Medoy’s house blessing come Sunday, ninang ako (ng bahay).

February 6-7. A restful weekend after a tiring closing week. Agnes, Leng and I were on video conference, happiNESs! Spent the night watching the final week of May Bukas Pa, and yes, I cried a lot! Sunday - bid Lola Nita a bon voyage and watched Irvin’s basketball game :)

February 13-14. We went to MOA right after lunch. Since we still have 2 hours to roam around while waiting for my schedule at In My Womb, we watched Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. We’re quite disappointed. (Later I found out from an officemate that there are relevant details from the book that are missing in the movie.)Then, we proceeded to In My Womb for my ultrasound. Please see my previous post.

nanay's (and tatay's) boy

February 13, 2010, 8:10 PM. After waiting for an hour, it was my turn at In My Womb Ultrasound Center. I availed a fetal biometry with gender determination in 2D. Honestly, I was really nervous because it is not just knowing if we are having a baby boy or a baby girl, it is also a chance to get a glimpse of the overall status of the baby. I did not pray for a baby boy or a baby girl, I prayed for a healthy and a normal baby. (But I guess I needed a more advanced procedure called congenital anomaly scan in order to assess the baby’s health in detail.)

The baby is generally okay, fairly big by a week for his age :) I am one happy Nanay!

After much prodding and shaking, it showed. We’re having a baby boy! You guessed it, Irvin cannot wipe the smile off his face. He was singing “Father and Son” on our way home.

Isn't it hard to write when you have nothing but happiness and contentment in your heart? Sometimes I feel like that, I simply can't write anything melodramatic or significant.

But I realized, I need not face dilemmas nor become brokenheared in order to write something sensible. Can I write about happiness? Of course.

I am not a perfect person. Right now, I am happy and satisfied with my life but that doesn't mean I don't get angry or sad or confused. Most of the times, I do, but I let it pass. It is one of the finest lessons I learned from Morrie Schwartz (in Mitch Albom's Tuesdays with Morrie). You let the negative feelings flow in you, experience it, embrace it. And then you let it go.

That is the most rational thing to do, isn't it? But I am telling you, many people would dwell on it, make those negative feelings eat them up.

I am not an expert on happiness and I would have to say I still have tons of lessons to learn about life. I live a very simple life. I hear other people's stories and I would say, "Why haven't I experienced that?" I give advice based on what I read or on other people's experience. And I just take every challenge as a chance to experiment.

Of the few things I know, I am delighted that one of them is counting my blessings. This, most probably, is the key to the radiating happiness I feel.

A cozy weather. A good book. Morning sunshine. Health. A safe ride to and from work. Crazy colleagues. Thoughtful friends. Pay day. A stable job. Food. Kids' smiles. Greetings from my sister. A text message from the husband. A phone call from my parents.

A few weeks after Tita’s miscarriage, nag-post siya ng blog about the experience. Nabasa ni Mommy…
Lex: Mommy, bakit ka naiyak?
Mommy: Kasi yang tita mo, may sulat sa computer…
Lex: Bakit siya sulat-sulat pa? Ala na siya sick? Sabi mo kay Tita, wag na siya sulat sa computer para di na ikaw umiyak.

Lex: Tita, may game ako!
Tita: Okay, sige nga.

November 28-29. Needed to work that Saturday to make up for the times I was on leave. Sunday, my usual rest day.

December 5-6. Had breakfast at McDo Cavite City (heavy traffic encountered due to Efren Penaflorida parade), went to the office (reworked the manufacturing program I have been doing for 3 days, but I still thank God that I discovered my error before Monday), supposed to go to a bazaar at SMX but we can’t find a parking space.

December 12-13. Saturday is rest day (after a very eventful and tiring month-end closing). Sunday, attended the christening of my inaanak Chloi (by my cousin Ate Andrea).

December 19-20. Saturday, had my laboratory tests (urinalysis, CBC and hepatitis screening) at Divine Grace, dropped by SM Bacoor, attended Xian’s christening (by Irvin’s cousin Erik) and went to Tagaytay for a date at Yellow Cab (yiheee!). Sunday is Ate’s birthday! We had lunch at Mang Inasal at SM Rosario then dropped by Nanay Medoy’s house for some chikahan.

December 26-27. Saturday, rest day and Christmas chat with Ate. Sunday, had dinner with Leng and Nes (and Tan) at Gumbo, MOA. Happiness! Miss Sarah and Mhay!

January 2-3. Saturday, rest day and New Year chat with Ate. Sunday, check up with Dra. Jamir. Sad. Please see my previous post.
